Electric counter, human feces, curtain holder, beige paint on floor and black paint on wall and plastic tube. At the second floor of a deserted house in the center of Bucharest. More here.

33. hallway

Black and white paint on wall. Ground floor of my block of flats. Romanian wording ('flacari' = 'flames'). The staircase was renovated at some point in the past. The walls were painted white and left in that state for two weeks. Then the administrator of the building decided to smudge the walls with thick daubs of orange-brown paint, thinking it would look cleaner than the white layer, for a longer period of time. More here.

32. bed

At the ground floor of the block of flats where I live, a neighbor leaned a bed that he no longer used against the wall near the elevator door. Returning home one night I discovered that the bed had fallen on the floor, turning the hallway into an intimate space, somewhat similar to a bedroom. Found object. More here.

27. deserted cinema

Led singboard, wires, batteries installed on the projection screen of a deserted cinema in Govora, near Ramnicu Valcea. Romanian wording on signboard ('sfarsit' = 'the end'). As far as its furniture is concerned, the room was perfectly preserved. However, inside it was completely dark.

The sign was abandoned on site after it was turned on. Batteries were tested beforehand. They usually lasted for about two days of continual operation. It is quite sensible to believe that after two days of glowing in the dark, the signboard switched off, due to lack of power. Photo by Elena Ciobanu. More photos and a short movie here.

The intervention is a doctor's prescription and a comment on the monotonous lives of the patients. More photos here.
